On my way to a meeting at MIT, I happened to spot some stunning photos through the window of what turned out to be the Philip Alden Russell Gallery David H. Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research. While cancer research would not seem to be much of a draw, the gallery is well worth a visit.

Country Greetings From Fresh Pond, Cambridge
My new place is gorgeous-three floors, a garage, a basement, big windows, light…and just a 10-minute bike ride from my favorite morning coffee haunt. There’s a grocery store nearby, a gym, a Chinese restaurant…I have nice neighbors who like gardening so much that they bought some plants that they take care of in my front yard. When you walk down the street, people actually smile and say “hello.”

The Oscars, James Franco (did I tell you he’s my cousin?) and me.
I am a total fan of James Franco. Even thought his appearance at the Oscars in red dress and blond wig was funny. He’s a distant cousin…which I tell everyone I can, every chance I get.
Neighborliness Revisited
Over the weekend, someone bashed into the driver’s side of my parked car…I’m guessing $700 damage. And–it’s snowing again. Evidently neighborliness, like winter, only lasts so long.

In pondering the curators’ decisions to highlight these artists, I can’t help but conclude that they’re making a statement about the current state of civilization, politics, and art. But I ask, where do we go from here?
Window Shopping at Anthropologie, H Square
Anthropologie, located at 48 Brattle St, Cambridge, MA has taken over the old Design Research building–which has sat almost empty for over a year since Crate and Barrel moved out. The store carries an enticing array of clothing, jewelry, shoes, boots and bags–most items are a bit ornate for my simple tastes but definitely worth a visit if only to see the store’s beautiful and creative arrangements of merchandise.
